  1. Leafy trees are soft. Get the nose up to just shy of stall speed & get the ground speed & sink rate down as far as you can. It’ll usually mush right into the tops and kinda sit there.


  2. Just dumb luck that it didn’t burst into flames. I know the old aviation saying that any landing you can walk away from is a good landing. If you can use the plane again, it’s a great landing.
    One thing I learned in owning one for almost twenty years is that in any off-airport landing like that, you no longer own the plane. The insurance company does. You MIGHT be able to negotiate for “first right of salvage”, but the price of rebuilding one is insane. Just take the money and run.
