Lincoln County Oregon Passes Mandatory Face Masks, Except For “People of Color”

Oregon county issues face mask order that exempts non-white people

Lincoln County, Oregon, has exempted non-white people from a new order requiring that face coverings be worn in public — to prevent racial profiling.

Health officials announced last week residents must wear face coverings in public settings where they may come within six feet of another individual who is not from the same household.

But people of color do not have to follow the new rule if they have “heightened concerns about racial profiling and harassment” over wearing the masks, officials said.

“No person shall intimidate or harass people who do not comply,” health officials said.

With mask requirements becoming more common, activists have raised concerns that the directives could put non-white people in danger.

“For many black people, deciding whether or not to wear a bandanna in public to protect themselves and others from contracting coronavirus is a lose-lose situation that can result in life-threatening consequences either way,” ReNika Moore, director of the ACLU’s Racial Justice Program, told CNN.

Trevon Logan, who is black, said orders to wear face coverings are “basically telling people to look dangerous given racial stereotypes that are out there.”

“This is in the larger context of black men fitting the description of a suspect who has a hood on, who has a face covering on,” Logan, an economics professor at Ohio State University, told the outlet.

“It looks like almost every criminal sketch of any garden-variety black suspect.”

Where to even start with this complete and utter bullshit?

Holy fuck these people have gone over the edge.

For one thing, I did some growing up in that county as a small child and lived there again in my late teens.

I went to kindergarten and first grade in Toledo and then went back and worked in Newport after I got out of High School for a while. I still have relatives that live there.

There is an Indian Reservation in that county for the Siletz Indians and I lived there too for a while before I even went to kindergarten and can still fuzzily remember some of it, 56 or so years later.

Newport and Lincoln City are popular tourist destinations during the Summer and now there are Indian gambling casinos around the area that draws even more tourism.

Lincoln city was one of the Wifely Units favorite vacation destinations because of the damned casino there right on the beach.

It had historically had a lumber and fishing based economy but all that pretty much got wiped out years ago by the Environmentalists.

With all of that, except for the Indians, as far as I know that county is so Lily White it glows in the fucking dark so where this virtue signaling horseshit is coming from is beyond me.

Maybe Sarthurk can enlighten us a bit if he stops by.

  1. Lincoln County was always a strange county. I lived in Waldport for a couple of years and Lincoln City or Newport was where ya went if ya needed big ticket kind of things or shop at a store bigger then a hole in the wall. It doesn’t surprise me, it was full of neurotic half bent old burned out hippies back in the 80s. As far as I am/was concerned Lincoln City and Newport could have gotten a “Rod from God” and I would have gave one iota of a celebrated fuck, same for Salem too.

  2. Fuck these unconstitutional edicts. Having said that, just last night I read that
one jurisdiction in Oregon has exempted Injuns from having to wear facemasks.
This, I understand. Indians are sovereign nations and are generally considered
self-governing. I have never considered killing and eating seals and whales,
but they have a right to create their own rules. As for racial minorities, this
is a violation of our most sacred legal principle, the equal enforcement of the
law. If they do not apply to everyone, they apply to no one! Some conservative
legal group should have already filed a suit against this bullshit order.

  3. The Baroness likes for me to take us to Grand Ronde and spend our change. We park the travel trailer in their free lot, and run down to Lincoln City for the day, and back in time for their excellent buffet. We’ll visit Lincoln City no more. It has been turned into a giant strip mall, and the sour faces alone are enough to make you go the other way.

We’ll be spending the next week just south of Seaside – hope they haven’t fucked it up as well. My advice to the stores: I can wear a facemask/muzzle, or you can have my business. Your choice.

    • My brother has an Autistic son and he enjoys going over to the Indian casinos and gambling. He is high functioning, but not verbal. He actually wins at the slots and the roulette table. My brother and his wife take him over at least once a month and the casino staff know him and gets all of them comps.

  4. So, let me get this straight:
If you are (insert racial profile here), you must (insert law here), and if you are (insert racial profile here), then this law does not apply to you.
Now using that as what they are saying, racism is now legal. If you have different laws applied based on the race, then they have made bias based on skin color – LEGAL.

And I thought the laws in Canada were fucked up. Really trying to catch up to Trudeau and his Liberals.
BTW: Laws are applied differently here according to race already. Look at the shit show we have here before doing this.

  5. I forgot to mention, doesn’t your Constitution EXPLICITLY state “All men are created equal?”
If so, then the law enacted is contrary to the United States Constitution. And I recall Phil had a blurb with quotes from US Law regarding that already.

  6. Easy peasy. You’re a Native American. Not officially tribally affiliated, but family lore says you’re part Cherokee. High cheekbones, yeah? Ergo, you’re colored. And if anyone says otherwise they’re denying you the validity of your lived experience. (I have no idea what that last sentence means, but they talk like that.)

Here is what that fount of truth, Wikipedia, has to say about the econ prof.

“Trevon D’Marcus Logan is the Hazel C. Youngberg Trustees Distinguished Professor in the Department of Economics at The Ohio State University. […] Logan comes from an African-American family in St. Paul, Minnesota, with roots in the sharecropping economy of the southern United States.”

D’ja see that? He is descended from sharecropping survivors!
Goddamn if all the Best People on Wiki don’t have a tragic family history of oppression and genocide.
All I have is a grandfather who was killed by one of the major Shanghai mobs because he was an ADA who naively wanted to “clean up organized crime” and wouldn’t take their bribes.

    • As a matter of fact, my Maternal Grandfather was a half breed Cree Indian and actually lived on a reservation for a time as a child.
He never talked about it but I did see his BIA identification number one time.
I have seen a picture of his mother and she was so dark skinned she could have passed as a negro except for her definitive Indian facial features.
Mix that with my Fathers side being mostly Irish, blend together to get me and then add alcohol…

      • >half breed Cree Indian
        Well, there you go.
I haven’t tried the POC thing myself, probably because it’s pretty clear that being Chinese doesn’t count for getting away with stuff (But it *is* good for getting called random nasty shit, mostly from blacks — about 8:1 vs whites when adjusted for population frequency.)

        • I am confused, are you Half Cree and half Chinese? Like Buford T. Justice said in Smokey and the Bandit, “You sounded taller on the two way.”

          • No, the “half Cree” was me quoting the part about Phil’s maternal grandfather.
I’m 100% Chinese, unless Mom had a more interesting life than I knew about.

But I’ve been mistaken for a Mi’qmak in Nova Scotia. Maybe having a waist-length braid at the time had something to do with it. And I occasionally get mistaken for a “halfbreed” (Eurasian), especially the few times I’ve been in Asia. It’s NOT a compliment over there 😉

  7. Lincoln County has a population of about 50,000, of whom less than 1% are People of Politically Preferred Pigmentation, but they are exempt from the insanity.

On the other hand, it’s illegal to wear a face covering if you have a CHL and are carrying.
No exemption given in the state “Guidelines”, or Lincoln County rules.

Washington County is one of the 7 affected by Kate’s order. Fortunately for me, Scappoose, in Columbia County, is only about 10 miles away, and it isn’t.

    • I think we should give the Lincoln County “Health Officials” a big ‘thank you’ for looking after the Sheriff’s Deputies and City Police Officers from the various towns within their jurisdiction. Whereas before this Law (?) each officer had to carefully consider the possibility of being sued for “Racial Profiling” that burden has now been assumed by the County

  8. This from the Stain of America, the CDC and it’s cult following….

And THEN…we get this (“Journalism”) shit.
Are you fucking kidding me‽‽‽ Is this GD Real?
Well done you communist shit stain(Z)…
    well done!

There Actions , Words , Legislation , thought process, reasoning , Intellect, Critical Thinking…..
its like a Damn Childs Tantrum, and not just the worthless skinbag terrorists but the damn Demo-Kraut Politicians and the fucking Traitorous RINO heap.( so called leaders) ….”Adults”.

I can’t help but think, for those where there is real winter(snow)….mmmm, it ain’t gonna be white this year.

    • Unfortunately, yes.
This is why Congressional Districting and Gerrymandering are so hard fought over.
A perfect example being the Seattle Wa./ Puget Sound area being stuffed to the gills with Liberal Democrats and their being able to out vote the rest of the entire state.

  9. All I can say is where I am up north we’re still mostly free.
I came here from the east coast to get away from all the regulations and glad to be here.
I don’t envy you fellas at all. I know what you’re going through and I feel for you.
