That’s A Load Off My Mind

It appears that between my buddy, my brother and my niece, we collectively managed to get this fucked up unemployment thing to work.

I see I just had a check get deposited.

It’s nothing short of a minor miracle I tells ya.

Especially when I recall all of the nightmare horror stories I have seen about other folks having had to go through. My niece being one. It took 40 damn days for her to get her first check.

This will also take a load off the Wifely Unit.

She has understandably been as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs about being able to pay the bills.

I have been trying not to spend any money, conserving what we did have, just in case.

It’s not like I plan on going on a spending spree but I do need a couple of things for some long overdue projects and at least now I can feel OK about spending twenty bucks.

I have been slowly going through a bunch of crap out in that garage and already have a load in the back of the Caballero. I am going to continue working on that and fill that bitch up because some of it is pretty light but those fuckers at the transfer station have a tendency to just eyeball what I have back there and then pull a number out of their asses and charge me without having to weigh in and out.

I’m gonna get my money’s worth out of those fuckers.

So, some good news for a change.

There is still lots of bad news out there, it’s just that right this second I don’t feel like immersing myself in it.

I need another cup of coffee and get out in that garage instead.

  1. Interesting. When *I* go to the dump, EVERYBODY has to weigh in and weigh out. Is Vancouver Gubmint workers lazy(er), or sumptin’??

      • I take my crap to a place where they pay me for it. R.S. Davis recycling in Clackamas is my go-to outfit when it comes to metal recycling. They do like it sorted it before you get it there though, and aluminum, brass and copper get paid for by check within a few days. Iron and steel are paid for on the spot.

My wife collected the aluminum pans from Church pot-lucks for a few months, washed them, stomped them all flat so they didn’t use up so much space and we made about $10 off of them.

        Free money!!

  2. Still waiting for the 1,200 check. The govt has fucked my liveliehood and almost 25% of my county is now filing for or are on unemployment.
There are a LOT more out there. A lot of our businesses are going to be gone for good.
From 4% unemployment to unemployment worse than the fucking great depression.
I’d rather have dangerous liberty than this fucking curtailing of all our rights.

  3. Hello, I think your blog might be having browser compatibility issues. When I look at your blog in Firefox, it looks fine but when opening in Internet Explorer, it has some overlapping. I just wanted to give you a quick heads up! Other then that, terrific blog!
