Just Peachy, Washington State Governor Declares State Of Emergency In All Counties Due To Measles Outbreak

Sittin’ here talking to the Wifely Unit and we are both trying to remember if we ever had the Measles as kids. We either had them or got vaccinated for it, we are pretty sure. We both have had the Mumps and Chicken Pox for sure.

I want to say I had the Measles too but that was over fifty four or five years ago and I can’t remember for sure. My parents are both dead as are all my Grandparents so there aren’t many people left I could even ask that would know.

Either way, there are at least 26 confirmed cases of the Measles now in Washington state and as contagious as that shit is, that number is sure to go way up.

The best part of that statistic is that 25 of the 26 confirmed cases are right here in the county we live in.

It would be very interesting to see just who Patient Zero is…..

The following is a complete copy and paste  for the sake of Public Safety.

Washington Governor Declares State of Emergency In All Counties

Gov. Jay Inslee declared a state of emergency today in all counties in response to more than two dozen confirmed cases of measles in the state.

“Measles is a highly contagious infectious disease that can be fatal in small children,” Inslee stated in his proclamation. “The existence of 26 confirmed cases in the state of Washington creates an extreme public health risk that may quickly spread to other counties.”

The proclamation directs state agencies and departments to utilize state resources and do everything reasonably possible to assist affected areas. A proclamation is also necessary to utilize the Emergency Management Assistance Compact to request additional medical resources from other states.

The Washington State Department of Health has instituted an infectious disease Incident Management Structure to manage the public health aspects of the incident to include investigations, laboratory testing and other efforts to protect communities. Meanwhile, the Washington Military Department is coordinating resources to support DOH and local officials in alleviating the impacts to people, property and infrastructure.

A current statewide case count for the measles outbreak is available on DOH’s website and will be updated daily. As of yesterday, there are 25 confirmed cases in Clark County and one confirmed case in King County.

Measles is easily spread when an infected person breathes, coughs or sneezes. Almost everyone who is not immune will get measles if they are exposed to the measles virus. Because measles is contagious before people realize they are sick, people who are not vaccinated may spread the disease without knowing. DOH urges everyone to check their immunization records to verify they are fully immunized.

  1. If you are 57 yrs old you probraly had the measles. My mom is still with me and she said I had them, tho I got them from a measles party. They had them for all the childhood diseases back then. Hope you did, but you should get the shingles shot. A friend had them and was out of work for 3 weeks and said he would not wish it on the devil himself. Watched my mom go thru the agony of them 3 years ago and the nerve damage they cause still aggravates her still.

  2. Up until a few decades ago, people searched out patient zero just to get the measles, spread it to the community/family, and get it over with. Check my records? Why? I’ve yet to see statistics which back up the ‘deadly to young children’ hype. And if you’ve had the measles, then get vaccinated, down the road you’ll wind up with a case of Shingles.

      • You only get the scar from an air-injector system, where often a whole bunch of inoculations were given at once.

Given inoculation using a normal needle will not leave that dished in scar.

  3. Unless I hear otherwise, I will assume that an illegal immigrant brought it with them over the border.
That is another feature of legal immigration that isn’t mentioned much; the checks for disease.

  4. Ten bucks says patient zero is an illegal immigrant. I had measles vaccine, but have no scar. I had shingles in ’94, and was 38 at the time. I heard it was a variation of chicken pox, the herpes Zoster virus. Ugly and painful for 10 days. Doc said if my wife was exposed to an open sore, she MIGHT get chicken pox…she didn’t.

  5. No Measles epidemic. Just a secret gun-grab.

WA State statutes bar possession of firearms in public during a state of emergency, but not in one’s business or residence:.
RCW 43.06.220: State of emergency ? Powers of governor pursuant to proclamation.
    http://app.leg.wa.gov/RCW/default.aspx:cite:43.06.220

In WA, since the Governor can prohibit the possession of firearms outside a private business or residence, then, firearms could be confiscated outside the place of business or residence. Which begs the question – what about transporting the firearm between the place of business and residence?

WA State Constitution Article 1 Section 24 protects Right to Keep and Bear Arms (RKBA).
But RCW 43.06.220 seems to violate it:
    http://www.leg.wa.gov/LAWSANDAGENCYRULES/Pages/constitution.aspx

I wouldn’t be surprised if this was even a prelude to Martial Law (in WA, and maybe elsewhere).

Links were copied and pasted; apologies if they don’t work as intended.
PS. This is NOT “legal advice”. You have to pay for that.

  6. I got my butt handed to me by a sinus infection last week. Down for a full week with face pain like I took on Mike Tyson bare knuckled. My right check bone still feels broken. Snot locker was at full capacity and overflow was running and still is. We live along a major human trafficking route, and we started getting all kinds of stuff from those folks about 10 years ago. Mostly respiratory stuff that we have no antibodies for from central America. I can recommend kleenex with lotion. I’ve used a pallet of those and no skin loss from the nose yet… Good luck with your imported measle outbreak….
