Today Is Wednesday, Right?

It’s hard for me to keep track of that shit when I start work at 3:00 PM one day and get off at 3:00 AM the next day.

I wake up not knowing what day of the week it is sometimes.

Supposedly I have one more day of this 12 hour bullshit but I have been to Grandma’s house before and ain’t counting my chickens before they hatch.

More coffee is in order either way.

Of course life  goes on and doesn’t give a rusty fuck how many hours you have been working and there is always some other bullshit you gotta take care of, which I just got done doing.

Now I gotta throw something together for lunch and hit the road. My sandwich maker is currently unavailable so it’s time to revert to my old bachelor ways.

See ya when I see ya.

  1. Dosen’t matter what day it is.
Every day is a work day.
12/7 for the last 3 weeks.
Looks like 12/7 for at least 4 more, mostly because I just might get Christmas Day off.
    6pm to 6am.
    Life’s grand!

  2. Twelve hour jet lag, every week twice a week, but the pay is good.

I’ve spent the last ten years working in a factory 3am-3pm for a couple of days then flipping to 3pm-3am. 36 hours one week, 48 the next. There are no extra people so when anyone goes on vacation, yours hours jump and your days off go away to cover the overtime.

Even when you get time off, it takes a couple of days to recover from the jet lag.

It takes about 6 months to replace people who go away. We average one person leaving, quitting, getting promoted, or suiciding (2) every two years. That’s a six month drag.

Even without the sporadic heavy manual labor involved, it’s a bitch. It ages you before your time.

I jumped in to the job for the money but I’m kind of trapped by my age now. Ain’t nobody looking for a 56 year old new hire.

I understand your pain. I’m gonna pray things normalize for you.

    • Yeah, we were rotating where I work also. That constantly makes you feel funky. If they’re going to work me to death then at least keep me on one shift. Hard to find qualified people and keep them. Doing what I do (NDT Inspection), it’s simply hard to find people and the ones that the company do find are fucktards or young fucktards. Lately there’s been a push for more diversity so now we get completely worthless fucktards that you can’t do or say anything about. Takes months to get people to understand these units, but they never last long. We’re cronically short handed. Don’t know why, I’ve excellent Steel Worker Union benefits and pay. I guess people just suck.
