A Bit Of Indy 500 History Drilled Out

An interesting article about the history of the track surface at Indianapolis.
We have heard it called The Brickyard in the past because it was once paved with bricks?

I had no idea how many, 3.2 million, that they weighed ten pounds apiece and they were put in by hand.It also wasn’t the first racing surface they tried. The first one didn’t work out so good. 5 people died in two days because of it.

core sample

They recently drilled a core sample of the track, that sample above is 108 years worth of track and improvements.

Pansies, Trolls and Liberals are urged to flee this place.
